MacDonald<\/a> <\/strong>discusses the odyssey surrounding the reactivation of Cura\u00e7ao&#8217;s oil refinery, which has been idle since 2019.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\nThe author argues that whether the refinery is reactivated or not, there is no escaping geopolitics for Cura\u00e7ao. If the facility becomes operational, this would result in mounting pressures to contain its carbon dioxide emissions.
